In this application, partial automation of a packaging process was implemented. With the help of a parallel gripper, two glasses can be grasped directly and placed in the carton through the room portal. In this way, monotonous tasks can be automated and employees can be relieved.
The system consists of a robot cell with an igus space gantry that can perform a high number of different tasks within its working space due to its 3 degrees of freedom. The parallel gripper from Schunk can be easily mounted on the robot and can take a gross payload of 2.05 kg with a maximum gripping force of 300 N.
